List of Slides for Hot Springs NP
These slides are actually from Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis,
Wyoming. They show springs and deposits similar to those at Hot Springs
NP in Arkansas.
- Hot water from the springs deposits tufa at
the surface and around the edges of the water. Tufa is a spongy-looking
form of calcium carbonate.
- Tufa builds up terraces around the springs.
Different levels form as the volume of water flowing out of the spring
changes.
