List of Slides for Denali NP
- The Tolkat River flows through a broad flat
valley with steep sides.
- It is a braided stream - note the many intertwining
channels. This drainage pattern develops where there is more sediment than
the stream can normally carry. Extra load is dropped in the river bed,
and the water winds around it. Only during floods is more material picked
up and carried downstream.
- Here, two braided streams join. They are
carrying different sediments, with contrasting colors.
- The main park road crosses the Savage River,
another sediment-choked braided stream.
- Grizzly bears roam freely in Denali NP.
