Radiography and computed tomography at high pressure: Applications to mantle melt physics

Prof. Charles Lesher

Univ. of California at Davis

The brilliance of synchrotron radiation coupled with the large volume apparatus now enables a wider range of direct investigations of the thermodynamic and rheological properties of silicate melts at high pressure and temperature. In this talk I will review recent progress using real time radiography and in situ computed tomography to advance our understanding of magmatic systems under mantle conditions.
